What does it means to Parent as a Leader?

Create Influence vs Exert Control

Reward and punishment are manipulations to control others. That's just a fact. Doing it, or having it done to you, makes you feel gross. I know you have a memory of being a child and thinking, "I'm never going to do this to my child."

Manipulation, no matter how positive you make it, breaks down your connection to your child.  When the connection is broken, you lose all your influence.

Influence is the way to have long term impact. You want your child to ask you for advice for their entire life. That only happens by building your influence.

In this community, you will learn how to build and use your parenting influence.

Understanding Replaces Miscommunication

Adults and children communicate in different ways.

When you and your child misunderstand each other it creates a disconnect in your relationship. You pull away from each other. When you parent as a leader you're striving to understand and correct miscommunication.

This means you have to gain an understanding of how your child makes sense of the world.

Your child will struggle to  communicate clearly.  That's why it's so important for you to create clear communication. Wondering how to do that?

I'm here to bridge the gap in your understanding of how your child communicates and how to clearly communicate with your child.

Your Child Above All Others

Do you put your child above others? I'm sure your nodding your head saying- Yes!

But, I have a question for you. When your at the grocery store, whose experience are you more worried about? Your child's? Or the other shoppers?

It may surprise you how often you put others above your child. You're doing this out of a true desire to teach your consideration for others. Unfortunately, it reduces your child's desire to listen to you.

The family structure was created to be the protection from the outside world.  We don't need protection from wild animals anymore. There are far scarier things, like social media. If you want to have a greater influence over your child than the peer group or the media, you have to be your child's safest place, emotionally and physically.

The live sessions will take place on Zoom. Zoom is a free program you can use on your favorite device. Go here to download it. You will be emailed the link so you can access the live session. You can join or leave at anytime during the broadcast.

I will only be answering questions from people who are actually participating in the live session. Once the recording of the session is posted in your member area you can ask clarifying or follow up questions in the discussion area. This may change, but that's the plan for now.

What topics will be covered?

The main focused is understanding children and bringing theory into daily practice. So we will cover it all.

Here are some of the areas we will spend time covering. Sleep, potty training, transitions, traumatic events, sibling relationships, tantrums, eating habits, table manners, being considerate, listening, following directions, development, positive language, media, electronics, tv watching.

Is there a specific age range that will be focused on?

Yes and No. Some session will be open ended to what ever you want to ask. Other sessions will be topic focused. Some topics are more relevant for early childhood, like sleep. Other topics will be for parents of older children, like school work. The principles of parenting as a leader are the same for all ages.
